BLUE EARTH AREA SCHOOL BOARD PROCEEDINGS

APRIL 13, 2015

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday April 13th, in Blue Earth, MN

Present were School Board members: F. Bly, D. Fellows, S. Ripley, M. Maher, S. Hauskins, and A. Patten. Also Attending were Supt. Gough, principals, members of the press, staff and public.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30p.m. by Chairperson Bly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

On a Maher/Fellows motion the board unanimously approved the agenda.

Public input:

Rodney Yates, Chris Ziegler, Jeff Grace, Randi Garletz, and Jeremiah Schutt each addressed the board regarding the possible closure of the Winnebago Elementary school.

On a Patten/Hauskins motion the board unanimously approved the minutes from the March meeting.

The board unanimously approved six money transfers in the amount of $1,056,544.14. Fellows/Ripley motion.

Action Items:

The Board passed a Resolution to Close the Winnebago Elementary School effective the end of the 2014-2015 school year on a Maher/Fellows motion.

Voting in favor were: Maher, Fellows, Bly, Ripley and Hauskins.

Voting against: Patten.

On a Fellows/Ripley motion, the Board unanimously approved the Joint Powers agreement with Southern Plains.

On a Maher/ Hauskins motion the board unanimously approved the BEAEA’s “Notice of Desire to Negotiate.”

The Board unanimously approved Supt. Gough as the Identified Official with Authority to Authorize User Access to MDE Secure Websites for BEA Schools. Maher/ Patten motion.

Additional spring coaches, Jon Franta – 7th Grade Baseball and Al Thielfoldt – volunteer golf, were unanimously approved on a Ripley/ Patten motion.

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that a Public Hearing will be held on May 11, 2015 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building to hear comments and decide upon a variance as requested by Susan Dickson.

Ms. Dickson proposes to build a 4′ wooden privacy fence onto her property known as 107 E. Jay Street, which when completed will be closer than 5′ to her side (west & east), and closer than 20′ to front (south) lines, and a 6′ wooden privacy fence closer than 25′ from the rear (north) line.
