BLUE EARTH AREA SCHOOL BOARD PROCEEDINGS

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday, October 16, 2017, in Blue Earth, MN.
Present were School Board members: J.Coxworth, S. Hauskins, J. Haugh, F. Bly, S. Ripley, A. Patten and S. Benz. Also Attending were Supt. Gough, principals, members of the press, staff and public.
The meeting was called to order at 5:30p.m. by Chairman Bly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
On a Benz/Patten motion, the Board approved the agenda.
Public Input:
Janel Buseman addressed the Board regarding district policy.
On a Haugh/Hauskins motion the Board unanimously approved the minutes from the September meeting.
The Board approved six money transfers in the amount of $1,116,692.90. Haugh/Ripley motion.
Action Items:
The Board approved the Master Contract with BEAEA on a Hauskins/Benz motion.
On a Haugh/Hauskins motion the 2017-2020 Master Contract with Principals was approved.
A motion was made by Hauskins, seconded by Patten and approved to table the 2018-2021 Superintendent Contract.
The Bullying Prevention Proclamation was approved on a Ripley/Benz motion.
On a Hauskins/Haugh motion the Board approved the High School Concert Choir Tour to the Quad Cities.

COMPREHENSIVE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY ANNUAL
PERFORMANCE REPORT NOW OPEN FOR 30-DAY PUBLIC REVIEW
November 8, 2017 The Region Nine Development Commission’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Annual Performance Report for Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca and Watonwan counties has been developed and is in a 30-day review and comment period. The CEDS is posted in accordance to EDA’s regulations found in the Federal Register at 13 C.F.R. part 303.
As the designated Economic Development District by the U.S. Economic Development Administration for the nine county area of south central Minnesota, Region Nine is required to coordinate and develop the CEDS for the region every five years and submit a supplemental annual performance report for subsequent years. This strategy is designed to be an action-based economic plan to diversify and strengthen the regional economy. The strategies outlined are derived from locally-based, regionally-driven planning sessions with representatives from private business, higher education, labor, education, government and community-based organizations.
