Sealed Prime General Contract bids for Blue Earth Area Schools High School Roof Renovation will be received by the Owner at the District Offices’ Conference Room, 315 East 6th Street, Blue Earth, Minnesota 56013 by mail or personal delivery until Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at which date and time the bids will be opened and read aloud.
A pre bid conference and walk-through will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the Blue Earth High School. Interested bidders should meet at
door “L”.
Project Scope: Selective demolition and construction of a roof renovation and other Work indicated in the specifications.
Bidders shall submit their proposal on the forms provided. Proposal shall be filled-in clearly and correctly with ink or other permanent format. Proposal shall be signed in ink by the individual, members of the partnership, or by one or more officers of the corporation making the proposal.
Bidding documents may be picked up at the District Office, 315 East 6th Street, Blue Earth, Minnesota 56013. For information regarding project, contact Al Gieser, Building and Grounds Supervisor for Blue Earth Area Schools, at 507-526-6501.
All bids shall be sealed in an opaque envelope upon which shall be plainly marked “BLUE EARTH AREA SCHOOLS HIGH SCHOOL ROOF RENOVATION” and the name of the bidder. If a bid is to be mailed, the bid envelope shall be sealed in a regular mailing envelope. FAX and Email Bids will not be accepted. The Owner reserves the right to hold and consider the bids for 30 days after the date of the bid opening. Bids shall be accompanied by a bidder’s bond or certified check payable to Blue Earth Area Schools for not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid including add alternates. A bidders bond shall include a certified copy of the power of attorney.
The right to waive any informality in any bid and reject any or all bids is reserved to the Owner.

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday, February 4, 2019, in Blue Earth, MN.
Present members were S. Benz, S. Beyer, F. Bly, J. Coxworth, S. Haskins, S. Rosenau and K. Zierke. Also present were Supt. Jensen and members of the press.
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Susan Benz. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
The purpose of the meeting was to approve 2018-19 calendar adjustment.
A motion was made to add February 15, 2019 and April 22, 2019 by Member Coxworth and seconded by Member Rosenau. Motion was approved 7-0.
Member Beyer motioned to adjourn the meeting with a second by Member Hauskins.
Board voted in favor to adjourn 7-0. The meeting adjourned at 6:47 p.m.

School Board MINUTES
February 11, 2019
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday, February 11, 2019, in Blue Earth, MN.
Present were School Board members: S. Benz, S. Beyer, F. Bly, J. Coxworth, S. Hauskins, S. Rosenau, and K. Zierke.Also attending were Supt. Jensen, principals, members of the press, staff and public.
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chairperson Benz. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The Board approved the agenda on a Bly/Beyer motion. 7-0 vote.
On a Hauskins/Coxworth motion, the January 14 minutes as amended and January 22 minutes were approved. 7-0 vote.
The Board approved 6 money transfers in the amount of $1,425,000 on a Hauskins/ Zierke motion. 7-0 vote.
District Report:
1. Julie Ackerman -HS Intro to Engineering Program Presentation. Project Lead the Way is utilized in the Engineering classes she teaches. One example was presented from her Intro to Engineering class on the design effects and potential solutions of fluorescent lighting.
2. Holly Christian -Businesses Professionals of America (BPA). Students compete in problem solving as individuals and teams in business settings. Two students who competed shared their experience and how this helps prepare them for their future aspirations.
Chairperson’s Report:
Chairperson Benz recognized Member Frankie Bly for receiving the All State School Board Award at the MSBA conference. Dave Horsager was the featured presenter at MSBA Leadership Conference she attended along with the board.
Superintendent’s Report: Superintendent Jensen reported on the following items:
1. School Board Recognition – Week of Feb. 18
2. MSBA Leadership Conference
3. Enrollment Update-K-12 is currently 1005 which is down from October when it was 1019.
4. 2019-2020 Calendar. DLT had similar thoughts as the board and surveys will be conducted amongst staff for further input.
Committee Reports:
DLT – Member Benz reported on DLT highlights including calendar survey, referendum communication, grant requests, Title I website, and Gals and Granola On March 12.
Community Ed – Member Rosenau relayed Shannon Swanson’s youth development plan she is updating and also presented what Peer Helping Program entails which is unique to BEA.
SPEC – Member Coxworth shared that all bids have been received and awarded for the building project in Fairmont. The project is currently on schedule and footings have been poured.
All 7 members of the board and Supt Jensen attended MSBA conference in January. Each member shared their experiences and highlighted what they learned including interesting and beneficial special sessions they attended.
Principal Reports:
Principal McGuire and Assistant Principal Dressler reported on K-7 recent activities, programs, and their experiences and sessions from the MASSP and MESPA conference they attended in January.
Principal Ewing reported on 8-12 recent happenings and MASSP conference sessions attended.
Action Items:
A resolution designating February as Kindness month was approved with a roll call vote after a Bly/Beyer motion. All members voted in favor of the resolution.
A motion was made by Hauskins/Zierke to accept Two $5000 donations from Dollar General. Motion approved 7-0. Thank you to Dollar General for the donation.
A motion to approve the Commercial Real Estate Purchase and Sale Agreement for the Winnebago School Building and Property was made by Coxworth/Bly. Motion approved 7-0.
Approve MSHSL Designated Representatives: School Rep Jerry Jensen, Board Rep Frankie Bly. Motion made by Haskins, seconded by Beyer. Motion approved 7-0.
Bly/Hauskins made a motion to approve resignation of Tim Newman, bus driver. Motion approved 7-0.
Hauskins/Zierke moved to approve leave request for Chelsea Thayer from January 9, 2019 thru end of school year. Approved 7-0.
Bly/Coxworth made a motion to approve following lane changes:
Nicolle Mutschler, MS to MS+20
Erin Mikels, BA+10 to BA+20
Lindsay Johnson, MA to MA+14. Motion approved 7-0.
The meeting was adjourned on a Zierke/Beyer motion at 6:42 p.m.

Discussion was held concerning the following:

2. M. Lore and D. Anderson presented staff report.
