NOTICE is hereby given that SEALED BIDS will be received until 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 29, 2021, by Darren Esser, County Auditor/Treasurer/Coordinator of Faribault County, at the Faribault County Courthouse, 415 North Main St., Blue Earth, Minnesota, on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners of said county for the following project. Bids will be opened and read publicly in the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Blue Earth immediately after the hour set for receiving bids. Any bids received after said hour will be returned to the bidder unopened. Any bid received without a certified check or bid bond will be returned without being read or considered.

They are official papers that affect your rights. You must respond to this lawsuit even though it may not yet be filed with the Court and there may be no court file number on this summons.

2. YOU MUST REPLY WITHIN 20 DAYS TO PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS. You must give or mail to the person who signed this summons a written response called an Answer within 20 days of the date on which you received this Summons. 3. YOU MUST RESPOND TO EACH CLAIM. The Answer is your written response to the Plaintiff’s Complaint. In your Answer you must state whether you agree or disagree with each paragraph of the Complaint. If you believe the Plaintiff should not be given everything asked for in the Complaint, you must say so in your Answer.

4. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR CASE IF YOU DO NOT SEND A WRITTEN RESPONSE TO THE COMPLAINT TO THE PERSON WHO SIGNED THIS SUMMONS. If you do not Answer within 20 days, you will lose this case. You will not get to tell your side of the story, and the Court may decide against you and award the Plaintiff everything asked for in the complaint. If you do not want to contest the claims stated in the complaint, you do not need to respond. A default judgment can then be entered against you for the relief requested in the complaint.

Even if you cannot get legal help, you must still provide a written Answer to protect your rights or you may lose the case.

6. ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION. The parties may agree to or be ordered to participate in an alternative dispute resolution process under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice. You must still send your written response to the Complaint even if you expect to use alternative means of resolving this dispute.

School Board MINUTES

JUNE 14, 2021

 A Regular Board Meeting of the Board of Education of Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday June 14th, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Conducted in person by telephone OR other Electronic means PURSUANT TO MINN. STAT. § 13D.021 As a result of the peacetime emergency declared by the Governor of the State of Minnesota in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Superintendent of the School District has determined that it is feasible to hold in person meetings with proper social distancing, or meetings could be conducted by alternative means (teleconference or video-teleconference) from remote locations. Members of the public interested in monitoring the work session from a remote location made use of the following link: https://www.facebook.com?ISD2860.

Board Members were all present in person with Superintendent M. Fletcher for the regular board meeting at the meeting location: Blue Earth Area High School Media Center 1125 Highway 169 N Blue Earth, MN 56013. 

Members present: S. Hauskins, S. Beyer, K. Zierke, J. Eckles, S. Rosenau, T. Armon, L. Mensing.

Call to Order: Chairperson Rosenau called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

III. Public Input: Brent Wiethorn from KBEW introduced himself. He is replacing Norm Hall at KBEW Radio.

VI. District Reports:

A. Brenda Smith gave an update on the QComp Annual Report.

B. Sara Albright gave an update on Service Learning Day which was May 13th.

C. Ann Crofton gave an update on BEAS Year in Review/COVID -Total COVID cases with staff and students was 87 for the school year.

VII. Chairperson’s Report: Employee recognition event went well. Recognized staff with longevity in the district.

VIII. Superintendent’s Report:

A. Legislative Update – Fall update should come after special session.

B. MSHSL Update – Reported that the district will pay the COVID fee.

C. Summer Learning Plan – COVID – A recent update was sent to families via email with plans for the summer as they stand today.

D. LTFM Update – Mr. Geiser provided an update on the long term Facilities Maintenance projected budget adjustments.

E. Operational Planning/ Strategic Plan Update – Update was given on recent strategic planning professional development with Dennis Cheesebrow from TeamWorks.

F. Board Retreat with TeamWorks – Tentative Date August 19th, 8-2.

IX. Committee Reports: Finance Committee met on Friday, June 11th. Negotiations team for Certified Staff has met to begin their process. SPEC (Southern Plains Education Cooperative) from Fairmont has invited the board to an open house.

X. Principal’s Report:

Mr. Schaffer – MDE announced graduation rates – 83.8% was the state percentage – BEAS was at 94%.

Mr. Dressler – Math curriculum change has been delayed a year due to vendor not being able to provide in-person training of staff. Summer school begins in June at the High School with Credit Recovery, Middle School will have a program in July and Elementary will be in August.
