A. Peter Koenig – Music Department – Mr. Koenig and Mr. Johnson presented and gave an update on the Music program and events that have taken place this year and are planned for the rest of the year.
B. Emily Davis – BEA Workforce Coordinator gave an update on opportunities that the high school students have had to explore local career interests in Blue Earth and surrounding communities. Mock Car Crash being scheduled for Spring 2023 for students to participate in.
C. Stacy Haase – Technology Coordinator – gave an update on the Technology Department. The update included the Chromebook Refresh Schedule, a plan to update the school website and Fun Facts about the School Facebook page.
VIII. Chairperson’s Report: Work Session March 23rd at 5:30 pm in the Media Center at the High School.
IX. Fiscal Services Coordinator Report: Mr. Wilhelmi presented the 22-23 Revised Budget.
X. Superintendent’s Report:
A. Legislative Update – An update was presented on the Legislative session currently taking place at the Capitol as it pertains to Education.
B. Staffing 2023-2024 – Positions to be added to the 2023-2024 school year were discussed.
a. Approve positions for 2023-2024 – on a Beyer/Eckles motion to add and hire the recommended positions discussed at the work session which includes a 2nd and 3rd grade section, a 6th grade ELA position and HS ELA position and an Assistant Principal/Behavior Specialist. Passed 6-0.
XI. Committee Reports:
DLT Update – None
Q Comp Update – Franta gave an update on the recent meeting. Discussion points included Replacement of the Q Comp Coordinator, Professional Development between the HS and Elem/MS and the Mentoring program.
Joint Powers – Zierke gave an update on the Joint Powers agreement with the City of Blue Earth being finalized. A discussion regarding the Tennis Court project with the City of Blue Earth was also a topic. Finance/Facilities Committee meeting in the District Conf Room on March 21st at 11 am.
XII. Principal Reports:
a. Vision Cards – An update was given by Principal Dressler and Principal Shaffer on the Vision Card progress.
Dressler – Spring Conferences were just competed on Thursday, March 9th. The 5th grade Courage Retreat was held on Friday, March 10th at The Refuge. The Science Fair is going to be held on March 16th. Plans are underway for The Game of Life for MS students, date to be determined.
Shaffer – Principal Shaffer and Dressler along with Ann Huntley participated in Restorative Practices training with Southern Plains Coop. Thirty-five students from BPA participated in regional competitions with 2 going on to Nationals. Pre ACT taking place the middle of March. May 3rd is the actual ACT test.
XIII. Curriculum/Instruction Director Report: Schmidt – A brief update was give on the Science curriculum. MCA testing to begin April 11th. Additional Spring testing updates were given.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the General Manager of Blue Earth Light & Water, Blue Earth, Minnesota at 125 East 7th Street, Blue Earth, MN 56013, until 2:00 P.M. CST on the 10th day of May, 2023, for the Northeast Substation Generation Addition project. At said time and place, the bids shall be publicly opened and read aloud.
The general nature of the work on which bids will be received consists of the addition of a containerized, diesel-fired generating unit in the proximity of a 69 kV substation. The work consists of the installation of the Owner-furnished generating unit, steel exhaust piping, aluminum jacketing, grounding, raceway, supports, coordination, and commissioning efforts.
The above work shall be in accordance with the specifications and proposed form of contract now on file in the office of Blue Earth Light & Water, Blue Earth, Minnesota, by this reference made a part hereof, as though fully set out and incorporated herein.
The Contractor and all subcontractors shall submit to the Owner a signed statement verifying compliance with each of the criteria described in the State of Minnesota “Responsible Contractor” law as codified in Minnesota Statute section 16C.285. See the Instructions to Bidders for more details.

The construction shall be performed upon a Notice to Proceed issuance. Substantial completion of the project shall be no later than April 26, 2024. See the specifications for more details on construction timing requirements.
Blue Earth Light & Water reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after the date bids are received and no bid may be withdrawn during this period.
