A Regular Board Meeting of the Board of Education of Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday, March 11th, 2024 at 6:00 pm. a. A Work Session was discussed and set up for May 1st at 5:30 pm.

IX. Superintendent’s Report:

A. Legislative Update – This is a non-budget year and they are focusing on policy bills. Fletcher discussed several that affect Education.

B. Staffing 2024-2025 – Provided an update on current openings and anticipated openings for next year.

C. Revised Budget – Presented the revised budget for 2023-2024 on behalf of A. Wilhelmi who was unable to attend.

X. Committee Reports:

DAT Update – Eckles provided an update on the last meeting and topics discussed were a new Student Information System being rolled out this summer and the New Building project update.

Q Comp Update – Franta gave a very brief update on the prior meeting.

Facilities Committee Update -Mensing gave a recap of the prior meeting where discussions included the summer project list, a New Building update and a few projects at the High School.

XI. Principal Reports:

Dressler: K-7 conferences were on February 29th and March 7th. Dressler touched on an upcoming state-wide Job Fair and recent outreach to 2024 graduates at U of M, MSU and Waldorf. Kindergarten Roundup Open House is Friday, March 22nd.

Sturtz – Sturtz gave highlights of recent and upcoming activities held in the K7 building. A recent new event is the offering a second chance breakfast to the Middle School students between their 1st and 2nd period. An estimated 100 students are participating. Upcoming activities included the Science Fair, Bingo and BEAS at Target Field.

Shaffer: Shaffer discussed a future presentation with the Department of Corrections and High School students regarding cell phone safety. Conferences were on February 22nd. There is an upcoming Teacher Job Fair in Shakopee on April 1st that they will attend. Donkey Ball was a great success and a check was given to the local food shelf with the proceeds from the fundraiser. Shaffer gave thanks to Mr. Milbrandt and FFA members for their involvement with this event.

XII. Curriculum/Instruction Director Report: Schmidt gave an update on upcoming testing. Training being provided for all staff assisting in the testing process.

Notice is hereby given that The Faribault County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, at 9:30 AM in the Board of Commissioners Room, Middle Level, Faribault County Courthouse, 415 N. Main Street, Blue Earth, Minnesota. The County Board will hold discussion and hear public comment on potential amendment:

To the Faribault County Subdivision Ordinance, amendment would allow for minor administrative subdivision of land procedures.

It is the purpose of the ordinance to promote the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the citizens of Faribault County. This constitutes as notice of intention to amend an ordinance. A proposed copy of the ordinance is available on the Faribault County Auditor’s office, Faribault County Planning and Zoning office and website.

Zoning Ordinance limited to F-5. Lot Area Regulations & F-6. Lot Width and Dept Regulation of both Sections 6-A-1 Shoreland Agriculture District & 7 – A-2 General Agriculture District.

It is the purpose of the ordinance to promote the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the citizens of Faribault County. This constitutes as notice of intention to amend an ordinance. A proposed copy of the ordinance is available at the Faribault County Auditor’s office, Faribault County Planning and Zoning office and website.
