SPECIAL School Board Minutes

July 8th, 2024

A Special Board Meeting of the Board of Education of Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday, July 8th, 2024 at 6:00 pm. Members of the public interested in monitoring the Board Meeting from a remote location made use of the following link: https://www.facebook.com/ISD2860

Board Members were present in person with Superintendent M. Fletcher for the regular board meeting at the meeting location: Blue Earth Area High School Media Center 1125 Highway 169 N Blue Earth, MN 56013. 

Members present: S. Hauskins, J. Eckles, L. Mensing, M. Franta, and K. Zierke. Absent: S. Beyer, T. Armon and Student Rep. R. Machacek.

I. Call to Order: Chairperson Hauskins called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm

VI. District Reports:

Stacy Haase – Technology – An update was given on technology traffic through social media and the district website with some specific statics from social media interaction shared. Also, the status of the district’s conversion from JMC to the new Student Information System, Infinite Campus was discussed and how information on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used as a learning tool.

VII. Chairperson’s Report:

A. Superintendent Goals were discussed. A date for a future work session will be determined in August to continue the discussion.

VIII. Superintendent’s Report:

A. Negotiations Update – Non-Certified AFSCFE negotiations to begin on July 22nd, 2024.

B. Fall Staffing – Fletcher and Dressler to attend a job fair at Nortech for non-certified staff. Current openings for certified staff were discussed.

IX. Committee Reports: None

Action Items

X. Approve Misc. Pay Rates for 2024-2025: A brief discussion was held regarding guest teacher pay rates and a decision was made to remove the sliding scale and replace with $175/day. On a Zierke/Eckles motion. Approved 5-0.

XI. Approve Activity/Meal Rates for 2024-2025: On a Mensing/Zierke motion. Approved 5-0.

XII. Approve Board Member Reimbursement Rates: On an Eckles/Mensing motion. Approved 5-0.

A. $600 Annual for Chair and Clerk

B. $50 Per Meeting Up to 1/2 Day Meeting

C. $150 Per Full Day Meeting

XIII. Personnel: On a Zierke/Eckles motion. Approved 5-0.

A. Approve New Hire: Kaytlyn Wensauer, Elementary Teacher, 1.0 FTE; Madison Armstrong, Elementary Teacher, 1.0 FTE

NOTICE OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE

BY SEALED BID

Prairieland Solid Waste Management has the following surplus equipment available for purchase by a public, sealed bid on a final sale, as-is basis.

2010 Wilkins Walking Floor Compactor Transfer Trailer

Bidders may inspect the equipment at Prairieland Solid Waste Management, 801 East 5th Street North, Truman, MN 56088 prior to submitting a bid by contacting the Prairieland Solid Waste Management to schedule an appointment at (507) 776-3232.

A sealed bid is required for this piece of equipment and must contain the minimum bid for it to be accepted. Your submittal should include the amount you wish to bid, name, address and a telephone number that you can be reached at if you are the successful bidder.

The minimum bid required is $7,500.00.

Sealed bids must be received by 4:00 p.m. on August 23, 2024. Sealed bids received by the due date will be publicly opened and announced on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Prairieland Solid Waste Management.

The successful bidder(s) shall make all arrangements and bear all costs for removal/delivery of equipment, which shall occur no later than ten (10) days after receipt of the award. The failure of the successful bidder(s) to pay or remove items is cause for rejection of all future bids from that party, and the next successful bidder will be notified. Prairieland Solid Waste Management reserves the right to reject any or all bids without explanation.

NOTICE AND ORDER FOR HEARING ON PETITION FOR DESCENT OF PROPERTY

A Petition for Determination of Descent has been filed with this court. The Petition states that the Decedent died more than three years ago leaving property in Minnesota. It requests the probate of Decedent’s last Will, if any, and for the descent of such property to be determined and assigned by this court to the persons entitled to the property.

Any objections to the petition must be filed with the court prior to or raised at the hearing. If proper and if no objections are filed or raised, the petition may be granted.

It is ordered and notice is given that on September 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., a hearing will be held at the Faribault County Courthouse, Blue Earth, Minnesota, via Zoom, to hear the petition.

Notice shall be given to all interested persons (Minn. Stat. § 524.1-401) and persons who have filed a demand for notice (Minn. Stat. § 524.3-204).

Notice shall be given by publishing this Notice and Order as provided by law and by: mailing a copy of this Notice and Order at least 14 days prior to the hearing date.
