COUNTY ORDINANCE
Notice is hereby given that The Faribault County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at 4:00 PM in the Conference Room of the Faribault County Ag. Center, Blue Earth, Minnesota. The Planning Commission will hold discussion and hear public comment on the Faribault County Cannabis Ordinance:
Minnesota cannabis legalization law allows counties to adopt reasonable restrictions, on the time, place, and manner or operation of a cannabis business or hemp business, through a County Ordinance. It is the purpose of the ordinance to promote the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the citizens of Faribault County. A proposed copy of the ordinance is available on the Faribault County – Planning and Zoning website.

2. Approved synopsis and official proceedings of the September 17, 2024 regular and drainage meetings.
3. Approved agenda of October 1, 2024.
4. No public comment was received.
5. Approved Resolution 24-CB-51 accepting the retirement resignation of Sheriff Michael Gormley effective January 29, 2025. All voted yes.
6. Approved Resolution 24-CB-52 appointing Chief Deputy Scott Adams as Interim Sheriff effective January 29, 2025. All voted yes.
7. Approved an SSTS grant in the amount of $3,000 and loan in the amount of $10,700.29 to Lawrence & Nanette Sass for parcel #09.013.1002 in Foster Township.
8. Approved payment of bills totaling $ 578,237.76.
Discussion was held concerning the following:

VII. Chairperson’s Report:
A. Superintendent Evaluation/Goals – Midyear review at the November board meeting in a closed session. Full evaluation to be completed in the Spring.
B. October Vision Card update will be provided at the October Board meeting.
VIII. Superintendent’s Report:
A. Enrollment Update: Projected enrollment for K12 was 1,008. Actual is 1,029. There is a need to add a Kindergarten section.
B. Review start of school year: Buc’s Bash was very successful. Very positive start of the school year.
C. Summer Projects Update: A detailed report was given on completed summer Custodial projects and a shout out was given about completing these projects in a very timely manner.
D. Referendum Updates; Strong effort is being put towards pushing out of more education, information, and facts regarding the November 5 ballot question in the form of pamphlets, videos, social media posts, school informational meetings and a SnapChat QR code. The Review and Comment was opened for discussion and public comment and there was no input.
E. LETRS PD Calendar: The calendar was shared for three days of training required for K5 teachers.
F. Student Board Member Update: Student Rep. Machacek presented on an upcoming student survey and focus groups being held in November for the DAT and they will review the data gathered.
IX. Committee Reports:
A. DAT: Eckles provided on the last committee meeting. Primary focus is the Desired Daily Experience by families, students and staff. There will be a survey to staff, students and families to learn more and then the data will be shared at a later time. They also reviewed The Vision Card.
B. Joint Powers: Zierke gave an update on the prior Joint Powers meeting.
C. Non-Certified Negotiations: Eckles reviewed the last negotiation meeting on August 22nd.
X. Principal’s Report:
• Dressler – Reviewed the Literacy Plan. Phase 1 LETRS training has started. Goal Setting Meetings are being held with Teachers and Paraprofessionals. Attendance numbers at the Back to School conferences were good.
• Shaffer – Shared about meeting held with each high school class about expectations for the year. Bucs Bash was a great event. Goal Setting is being done with staff. Parent Teacher conferences being held Sept. 26th. Homecoming is on Oct 4th. Tuesday Oct. 1st is Picture Day.
• Assistant Principal Sturtz – An update was provided regarding Back to School Conferences. Sturtz shared highlights for the first couple weeks of school and beginning practices for the start of the year.
XI. Curriculum/Instruction Director Report: Schmidt gave an update on K5 Math training LETRS/READ Act training as well as Math PD.
