X. Superintendent’s Report:
A. American Education Week: November 18-22, 2024 – Fletcher gave an update on the festivities planned during that week.
B. MSBA Leadership Conference: January 16-17, 2025 takes place in Minneapolis.
C. Truth in Taxation Hearing: December 9, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the regular School Board meeting.
D. 2024 Election: An update was given on the School Bond Referendum results. Election results of the Board Member votes were also shared. Recommended the Facilities Committee meet in December 2024 to discuss next steps. (Board member Beyer arrived at 6:13 p.m.)
E. Calendar Committee – The committee met on November 11th to begin discussions about the next school year calendar. A survey is being launched to send to families, staff and students regarding the early start of the school year with results being used to plan the calendar for 2025-2026.
F. Student Board Representative Update: Student Rep Machacek gave an update on student focus groups that she is leading regarding feedback shared by students on a survey regarding their “Desired Daily Experience” topics.
XI. Committee Reports:
A. DAT – Mensing gave an update about the recent meeting and shared about a representative from South Central Service Cooperative who sat in as a guest to learn more about our MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) results. Eckles shared that the DAT also are reviewing data gathered from the staff surveys regarding the “Desired Daily Experience” and will conducting focus groups with staff to drill down on the survey results.
B.Q Comp Oversight – Franta gave a recap of the prior QComp meeting where grant proposals for professional development were discussed as well as Peer Coaching and Mentor programs.
XII. Principals Reports:
Dressler – Shared about a new initiative where Kindergarten and PreK programs are collaborating more and the leader of Head Start also visited our preK classroom to experience our curriculum and classroom environment. Dressler was going to be participating in Student Teacher Mock Interviews at MSU where they are partnering with area school districts to assist college students at these events. K7 Conferences are on November 14th and 21st.
Schaffer -There was an update on instruction on how to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how to use it appropriately in the classroom. Shaffer and Dressler continue their participation in area Career Fairs to begin recruiting for potential open positions. He also spoke briefly about the Traveling Trophy for Teachers that students nominate for teacher of the quarter.
Sturtz – Provided an update on activities and events held thus far in the K7 building. Highlighted was the Veteran’s Day Program, Music programs, and the Harvest Dinner on November 26th. Also, he is holding grade level meetings and they are collaborating on how to support each other regarding areas of concern.
XIII. Director of Curriculum/Instruction Report: Schmidt gave an update on the READ Act as well as the current K-5 ELA sample curriculum options that staff is reviewing. The first LETRS training session went well and additional training is coming in January. Walkthroughs continue of the K-5 Math classroom sessions to provide feedback and resources if needed. Schmidt has also been in PLCs to help teachers benchmark where students as they prepare for the MCAs.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – CITY OF WINNEBAGO
Notice is hereby given that the Winnebago City Council will be holding a public hearing for adopting an Ordinance of the City of Winnebago to Regulate Cannabis Businesses. The public hearing will take place at 7:00 pm., Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Winnebago Municipal Center. The Proposed Ordinance is available for review at City Hall at 140 Main Street South in Winnebago during normal business hours.
Members of the public wishing to provide public comment may attend this meeting. Written comments can also be submitted to the City Administrator, 140 S Main Street, PO Box 35, Winnebago, MN 56098 and emailed to jhynes@cityofwinnebago.com.

The awarded contractor must guarantee the tile work under the contract for three years after its completion against any fault or negligence on the part of the awarded Contractor.
