The Blue Earth Area baseball team split a doubleheader with Waseca last Tuesday. The Bucs won the first game 5-4, then lost the second game 20-10.

The Bucs were behind 4-0 in the first game when they had a dramatic five run sixth inning to win it.

Originally there was one game scheduled, but it became a doubleheader when it was feared that rain would cancel a second game scheduled for later in the week.

The Bucs got a full seven inning game out of pitcher Gabe Sturtz in the first game. He allowed four runs on 10 hits and struck out four.

BEA got their five runs on five hits, by five different players. John Franta, Jake Lee, Mat Willner and Adam Meyer all went one for three in the game. Sinjin Bell got the other hit for the Bucs.

In the second game the Bucs got their 10 runs on 13 hits. Mat Willner led the way going three for four. John Franta was three for five.

Garrett Anderson had the power for the Bucs with a three run home run in the second inning. He was two for four batting.

Three BEA pitchers gave up 20 runs on nine hits. They walked 14 batters, struck out seven.

Bucs beat Fairmont 4-2

The Buccaneer baseball team edged the Fairmont Cardinals 4 to 2 last Monday night.

Garrett Anderson went all seven innings and got the win. He dominated the Cardinal batters and struck out 12 of them while allowing just two runs on four hits. He walked six.

Anderson also went two for four and had a double to add to the offense.

Jake Lee had the big bat for the Bucs, going three for four including a home run, and two RBIs. His homer came in the first inning and gave the Bucs a lead they never gave up.

Gabe Sturtz and Mat Willner also got hits, with Willner hitting a double for his.

The game was played in Fairmont and was a makeup game for one that was to have been played the previous Thursday but was rained out.

Thursday BEA traveled to St. James and defeated the Saints 12-2. Look for story in next week’s Register.

This week the Bucs host LCWM on Monday and St. Peter on Tuesday.
