The Blue Earth Area tennis doubles team of Logan Becker and Matt Purvis lost in their third match at the State Tennis Meet on Friday, June 6. That meant they went 1-2 at State.

The two had lost their opening round match on Thursday, 6-0, 6-1, to the Blake School’s Tips Jackley and Jack Bryant. Jackley and Bryant went on to win the State Class A Doubles title.

Becker and Purvis bounced back on Thursday to defeat Luverne’s Matt Kreuch and Diego Federsffield 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, as reported in last week’s Faribault County Register.

That win propelled the two Buc players into the consolation bracket quarterfinals on Friday.

The pair lost that match 6-3, 6-3 in a hard fought battle against Virginia’s Brian Villa and Nico Sacchetti.

Villa and Sacchetti went on to win the consolation title later that day.
