A Blue Earth Area wrestler was among those receiving honorable mention to The Guillotine’s 2008 Academic All-State team.

Heavyweight Jake Lee posted a 32-8 record during the 2007-08 season. He also excelled in the classroom, compiling a 3.58 GPA (grade point average).

The Buc junior was the lone BEA representative at the State Meet held Feb. 27-March 1 in St. Paul.

Names of senior and junior wrestlers were submitted on nomination forms signed by their current coach and principal verifying:

• a current minimum GPA of 3.0;

• season varsity matches of at least 15;

• and a season win percentage of at least 60 percent.

Points were then tallied according to current varsity wins, current state tournament placement and cumulative GPA.

In addition to wrestling, Lee participated in football, baseball and track.
