T. J. Stallman gets ready to take a rip at a pitch in a recent Pirates victory.

The Blue Earth Pirates are on a roll this year, and they continued it last week with three more notches in the win column.

They defeated Lake Crystal twice, and New Richland once, in a four day stretch.

On July 10 they blasted Lake Crystal 12-0 in Blue Earth.

Cody Sukalski pitched all seven innings and scattered three hits in the shutout.

Todd Rasmussen had the hot bat with three hits in four at bats. Sukalski was 2 for 3.

The Pirates had three runs in both the first and second innings, and added one in the fourth and five in the fifth.

The next day, July 11, the Blue Earth town team defeated New Richland 11-3 in a nine inning game.

Aaron Wendt pitched all nine innings for the win. He gave up ten hits that led to the three runs. He also struck out 11 batters.

The game was tied 3-3 after four innings but the Pirates got three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and four in the eighth.

Rasmussen was on fire again, with a perfect 5 for 5 night at the plate. T. J. Stallman was 3 for 5, and Wendt and Justin Schaible were 2 for 5.

The local team pounded out 16 hits in New Richland.

July 13 saw the Pirates in Lake Crystal for a rematch. This time they won 10-1.

Cody Hyland pitched nine solid innings, giving up just three hits and the one run.

Dan Woodall was 3 for 4 to lead the Pirates, who had ten hits.

The Pirates were set to enter the play-offs this past weekend. Details will be in next week’s Register.
