Buc girls crush Worthington
It was a big 6-1 win for the young Buccaneer girls tennis team when they came home from Worthington on Sept. 2.
No. 1 singles player Emily Slama swept her match over Sameera Nalla, 6-0, 6-0. BEA’s No. 2 singles player, Jackie Klinkner, also notched a win, going 6-1, 6-0 against Amy Schutte.
All three of BEA’s doubles teams won by fairly large margins.
Jessica Skaare and Olivia Skaare teamed up at No. 1 doubles and defeated Toni Vestweber and Sabrina Klein 6-0, 6-1.
No. 2 doubles Mackenzie Lein and Blaire Zierke won 6-2, 6-0 over the Trojans’ Kaytlynn Meindus and Annie Zaske. Abby Nimz and Autumn Drake won 6-0, 6-2 over Ana Li and Dyem Nguyen.
Malissa Schafer, playing No. 4 singles lost her first set 7-6, but came back to win the second 6-2. She won a third set tie-breaker 10-6 that was held due to darkness.
The Bucs No. 3 singles player, Alicia Johnson, lost her match 6-3, 6-3 to Leigh Van Hove.
The Bucs season record went to 3-2 after the win.
