Bucs get swept by LSH
LeSueur-Henderson got the best of Blue Earth Area in volleyball last Monday night as the Giants recorded a three games to none victory on the Bucs home floor.
These two teams belong to the same sub-section and could very well cross paths again in tournament play. The Giants came into the match with a record of 17-4 while the Bucs were 13-5.
The Buccaneers grabbed an early lead in the first game, utilizing some strong net play to build a 7-1 margin. The Giants pulled within one point at 10-9 before the Bucs extended the lead to seven again with a 19-12 score.
Strong serving by the Giants helped them put together a couple of runs and tie the score at 20 all. They grabbed their first lead of the night at 21-20 and added another point before the Bucs would pull within one on a Danika Stindtman kill.
That was all the offense the Bucs could manage, however, as the Giants closed out the match to win 25-21.
The second game started out just the opposite of the first as the Bucs found themselves down 7-1. Like the Giants in the first game, the Bucs were also able to battle back and a Stindtman kill knotted the score at 17-17.
The Bucs again could not muster much offense at the end of the game and the Giants went on to win game two by the score of 25-19.
Game three featured the Giants jumping out to an early lead and increasing it throughout the game on their way to a 25-15 win.
Kirsten Johanson led the Bucs with 20 set assists. Stindtman racked up 10 kills. Leading servers for the night were Jenny Smith and Kate Hassing, each hitting 100% of their serves, Smith with 13 and Hassing with 11.
Danika Stindtman was honored between games one and two for achieving both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. She was presented with a volleyball that listed the date that she recorded each achievement.
