By Staff | Dec 15, 2008

It never hurts to start a sports season off with a win, and that is exactly what the young Blue Earth Area Buccaneer gymnastics team did last Tuesday night.

The Bucs defeated the Worthington Trojans 129.85 to 126.225.

Julia Meyer had an outstanding night for the Bucs, picking up three first place and two second place finishes.

Meyer was first in the all-around with a 33.225 score. She also was first in floor exercise with a 8.575 and the beam with a 7.65 score. Her 8.25 on the bars, and 8.4/8.75 were both good for second place.

LaNay Walker took first in the bars with an 8.3, and Samantha Hougen took first in the vault with a 8.7/8.9 score.

Blaire Zierke grabbed second in the all-around with a 32.25. Her 8.7/8.6 on the vault was good for third place.

Emily Clement took second on the beam with a 7.425.

The Bucs host Mankato East on Tuesday, and New Ulm on Thursday, this week.
