Bucs shock Eagles

A Buc gymnast gets high off the beam during competition in New Ulm last week. The Bucs got a big conference win over the Eagles.

It has been several years since New Ulm lost a South Central Conference gymnastics match.

On Thursday, Dec.18, the Blue Earth Area Bucs handed the Eagles a loss, winning 129.85 to 127.325.

It was the Buc’s Julia Meyer who led the way. She took first in the all-around with a 33.65.

Meyer was also first in the beam, with a score of 8.6. She was third on the bars with 8.1, and third in floor exercise with 8.55.

Blaire Zierke was tied for third in all-around with 32.35.

Zierke grabbed second place finishes in both beam (8.15) and floor (8.6).

Cassie Thompson placed second in the vault with an 8.65/8.7. Bridgett Zierke was third in the vault with an 8.3/8.6 score.

Emily Clement was tied for third on the beam with a score of 7.8.

The Bucs next match is at Fairmont on January 9.
