Girls capture 1st at St. James
The Buc girls dominated the competition, earning Top 3 finishes in several events to take first place at the St. James track and field meet held Tuesday.
The Bucs tallied 133 points, 20 points ahead of United South Central/Alden-Conger.
Three relays took first place and another was second.
The 4 x 800-meter relay squad got BEA off to a good start and the 4 x 400-meter foursome ended the day on a winning note also.
The 4 x 800 foursome of Krista Hassing (2:34.6), LaNay Walker (2:39.5), Sierra Halvorson (2:50.6) and Sara Warmka (2:42.9) were the first to cross the finish line in 10:47.
Sara Warmka (66.5), Courtney Grandgenett (64.9), Krista Hassing (65.2), and Kate Hassing (62.4) claimed the 4 x 400 title with a time of 4:18.3.
The Bucs captured first in the 4 x 100-meter relay with Meghan Mittelstadt, Annemarie Hoyt, Ashley Olson and Lexi Holland being clocked in 53.5.
BEA took second place in the 4 x 200-meter relay with Meghan Mittelstadt (28.4), Annemarie Hoyt (29.8), Katie Krieger (29.3) and Sara Warmka (29.0) posting a time of 1:56.6.
The Bucs swept the sprinting events.
Lexi Holland grabbed first place in the 100-meter dash in 13.7.
Kate Hassing was a double-winner, clocked in 61.1 in the 400-meter dash and 27.8 in the 200 meters.
Courtney Grandgenett led the distance runners with a winning time of 5:47.0 in the 1,600-meter run, while LaNay Walker’s 13:17.2 was the second fastest time in the 3,200-meter run.
Rylee Wagner took fourth in the 800-meter run a time of 2:38.6.
In the 100-meter high hurdles, Kelly Aukes’ 19.8 was good enough to take fifth.
LaNay Walker cleared 7-0 to nab second in the pole vault.
Holland was the best Buc leaper in the long jump with a mark of 14-0 to take second place.
In the triple jump, Kate Hassing earned first place with a leap of 32-11.
Rylee Wagner claimed third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-10.
BEA had two in the Top 5 of the discus competition.
Annemarie Hoyt’s toss of 89-1 gave her third place and Katie Krieger had the fifth best overall distance of 82-3.
