Boys go 1-1
Despite a rough first round by their usual team leader, the Buccaneer boys golf team started the year off with a 9-stroke victory over New Ulm last Monday.
BEA shot a 361, while New Ulm had a 370 total score.
Andy Aukes was the meet medalist, shooting a 78 (40-38) on the New Ulm Country Club course. Nate Glimsdal shot a 91 (45-46) for the team.
The Bucs’ Jon Trasamar got off to a rocky start, carding a seven on the first hole and an 11 on the ninth hole, for a 51 score on the first nine holes.He ended with a 41 on the back nine for a 92 on the round.
Derek Abel’s 100 (51-49) rounded out the scoring for the Buccaneers in the first meet of the season.
Jordan Zupfer shot an 89 to lead the Eagles. They had a 90, 92 and 99 to total their 370.
Fairmont 335, BEA 346
After defeating New Ulm by nine strokes on Monday, the Buccaneer boys golf team lost by that same number on Tuesday.
BEA fell 335-346 to Fairmont at Riverside Town and Country Golf Course.
Jon Trasamar bettered his Monday score in New Ulm by 16 strokes to lead the Bucs with a 76 (41-35). His 76 was also good enough to land him medalist honors, by one stroke.
Andy Aukes fired an 84 (45-39) to help the team total.
Derek Abel and Slater Peterson each shot a 93 to round out the four person team total. The two reversed their nine hole totals. Abel shot 44-49 and Peterson 49-44.
Miles Pfingsten shot a 77 (39-38) for the Cardinals. Ben Rogol and Connor O’Sell both had 83 for a score, and Jake Humpal shot a 93 for Fairmont.
This week the boys travel to Martin County West today, St. Peter on Tuesday and Belle Plaine on Friday.
