Girls crush Eagles, Cards

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls golf team crushed the New Ulm Eagles last Monday in New Ulm. BEA won by a comfortable 37-stroke margin, 406-443.

It was their season opener.

Morgan Dickman led the Buc girls with a 94 (46-48) score. She was the meet medalist.

Jessica Skaare was just one stroke back of Dickman with a 95 (49-46).

Rounding out the scoring for the Bucs were Olivia Skaare with a 106 total (50-56) and Autumn Drake with 111 (59-52).

New Ulm was led by Miranda McKeeth who shot a 101 (52-49).

BEA 428, Fairmont 453

Despite taking 22 more strokes than they had the day before, the Buccaneer girls golf team notched their second win of the young season.

They defeated the Fairmont Cardinals 428-453 on the Riverside Town and Country Golf Course last Tuesday.

Jessica Skaare was medalist of the meet, firing a 97 (51-46) on her home course.

Morgan Dickman had a 107 (54-53) to help pace the Bucs.Rounding out the scoring for BEA was Olivia Skaare with a 110 (52-58) and Mackenzie Lein who shot a 114 ( 59-55).

The team score was higher than the goal Coach Al Cue has set for the girls, feeling they can be consistently around the 400 mark.

However, the win puts the Bucs at 2-0 both for the season and in the South Central Conference.

Fairmont was led by Tori Edgington with a 108 (50-58) score. Libby Humpfl shot 112, Megan Rosol 115 and Hayley Grefe 118 for the Cards.

This week the Bucs travel to Martin County West today, St. Peter on Tuesday and Belle Plaine on Friday.
