The Blue Earth Area girls golf team won the South Central Conference Golf Tournament, edging out second place Fairmont and New Ulm by just two strokes.

The Bucs carded a 397 for their team score, while the Cardinals and Eagles came in tied at 399. Fourth place Waseca was at 402, while fifth place St. Peter shot 439. The St. James team had an incomplete score.

“This was the closest SCC meet since I have been coaching (13 years),” says Buc Coach Al Cue. “Only five strokes separated the first place team from the fourth place team..”

Morgan Dickman tied for second place in the meet with a 95 (46-49) score. Jessica Skaare tied for fourth place with a 97 (48-49). Both Buc players were named to the All-Conference team.

“They (Bucs team) played very well at the SCC Meet,” Cue said. “I felt going into the meet we may need to shoot one of our better scores of the year, and that is exactly what they did.”

“These girls have had some ups and downs during the season, but they really came through when they needed to in this meet,” Cue added.

Mackenzie Lein added a 101 (51-50) and Olivia Skaare had a 104 (53-51) to round out the scoring for the team.

Cue offered congratulations on the whole team for their efforts, especially for Dickman and Skaare for being named to the All- Conference honors.
