Four Blue Earth Area Buccaneer ball players were recently named to the South Central Conference 2009 All-Conference team.

Two Buc baseball players were on the list; Mat Willner and Garrett Anderson. There were also two softball players from the 2009 BEA team who were on the conference softball team; Alicia Rorman and Bridget Moore.

Willner, a senior, played right field and batted an incredible .517 for the Buccaneers.

Anderson, a junior, was a reliable pitcher for BEA, and also played first base. He had a low 1.33 ERA for the Bucs, with a 2-3 season record.

He also was a steady hitter for the Bucs, with a .379 batting average.

Bridget Moore

Alicia Rorman, a junior, played outfield and shortstop for the Buccaneers this past season. Her batting average of .379 (.450 in the conference) and steady defensive play in the field earned her high praise from Coach Bob Hanson throughout the season.

Rorman was also selected to the All-Section Team.

Bridget Moore, also a junior, was another steady batter and fielder for BEA.

She had a .365 batting average (.375 conference) and also was an outstanding outfielder for the Bucs. Moore was the leadoff batter for the Bucs all season.

“Both girls are juniors and we will expect big things from them next year,” Hanson said.

Garrett Anderson

Fairmont, New Ulm and St. Peter led the baseball All-Conference team list with four players each.

Waseca and New Ulm topped the softball list with five girls each named All-Conference.
