Tennis team wins

It was a 7-0 sweep for the Bucs tennis team as they earned their first win of the season in a home match against Worthington on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

BEA dominated the singles competition, losing only three games.

No. 1 singles Emily Slama defeated Sameera Nalla, 6-0, 6-1.

Annika Johnson had little trouble in her No. 2 singles match, downing the Trojans’ Sabrina Klein, 6-0, 6-0.

At the No. 3 singles, Jessica Skaare posted 6-0, 6-0 set wins over Maggie Fornoff.

The Bucs Sam Hogstad won her sets 6-1, 6-1, over Kate Lesnar.

All three doubles teams were victorious, however, there were some competitive matches.

The No. 1 team of Mackenzie Lein and Abby Nimz downed Amy Schutte and Annie Zaske, 6-3, 6-2.

It took three sets for Autumn Drake and Blaire Zierke to defeat Jen Froderman and Elizabeth Luke, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at the No. 2 doubles.

Karleigh Wolff and Kaitlyn Olson won 6-3, 6-1 over Amanda Bristow and Emily Williamson at the No. 3 doubles.

With the win BEA improved their season record to 1-5.

The Bucs were on the road Thursday to take on St. James.

The Saints remained undefeated and improved their season record to 9-0 by downing BEA 6-1.

Emily Slama had the lone win for the Bucs, beating Paige Olson 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 singles.

BEA will be busy, going to Le Center on Sept. 12 before hosting Albert Lea today and New Ulm on Tuesday. On Thursday, they travel to Fairmont.
