Harriers compete at SCC meet in Fairmont

The Blue Earth Area girls and boys cross country teams finished third and fourth respectively in the South Central Conference Meet held Tuesday at Cedar Creek Park in Fairmont.

They also got a sneak preview of four teams considered favorites at their Section Meet held Oct. 29 at Riverside Town and Country Club in Blue Earth.

Waseca captured the girls title with 21 points, followed by Fairmont (51) and BEA (69).

On the boys side, Waseca edged Fairmont for the crown with 31 points, five less than the Cardinals. The Bucs tallied 90 points, behind third-place St. James (74).

Marissia Hagedorn was clocked in 15:31 to grab ninth place, while Rylee Wagner had a 10th-place time of 15:43.

Courtney Grandgenett posted with 11th overall best time in 15:45.

Placing 19th was LaNay Walker with 16:04, eight seconds ahead of teammate Mandy Warmka in the 20th spot.

Rounding out the varsity squad was Meghan Mittelstadt with a time of 16:46 for 23rd and Lindsey Ankeny placing 24th in 16:52.

The BEA boys were led by Riley Holmseth’s 12th-place finish in 17:46.

The next Buc runner to complete the 5,000-meter course was Jonas Hamperl in 18:29, good enough for 16th.

Aaron Wilhelmi’s 18:42 put him 19th overall, while Jake Zebedee was 21st in 18:52 and Brandon Christians 22nd in 19:01.

JT Roe posted a time of 19:35 to grab 25th and Abi Vasquez took 28th in 20:13.
