Boys start season with six-point win

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers and the Kasson-Mantorville KoMets were in a tight game on Saturday, Dec. 5, in Kasson.

The game was all knotted up at 23-23 at the half time buzzer.

But while the KoMets came up with an identical 23 points for the second half, the Bucs scored 29 and won the game 52-46.

Nick Lee was the leading scorer for BEA, with 19 points. He also had six rebounds and made two steals. Garrett Anderson added 12 points for the Bucs, plus grabbed seven rebounds.

Nate Carr was all over the court, scoring eight points and getting seven steals, six assists and five rebounds.

As a team, the Bucs were 21 of 47 shooting from the floor, and were 7 of 13 from the free-throw line. The KoMets were 17 of 49 for field goals and 5 of 9 for free throws.

BEA had three 3-pointers, two of them by Riley Holmseth, who had six points. K-M made seven shots from beyond the arc for 21 points, while netting 20 points from two point range.

The game was the season opener for the Bucs, who now sport a 1-0 record.

This week the boys team is scheduled to host the St. Peter Saints on Friday night.
