The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls basketball team got on target with their shooting, and it resulted in a big win in St. Peter on Friday, Dec. 18.

The Bucs downed the Saints 55-52 in a close, exciting game.

BEA was just three points ahead at half time, 25-23.

“The key to the game was us shooting the ball better than we have been,” Head Coach Al Cue says. “We made 38 percent of our shots overall, including 5 of 10 from three-point range.”

Two girls led the way for the Bucs in scoring and getting the conference game into the win column.

Ashley Olson scored 20 points, while Morgan Dickman pumped in 17. Hayley Pirsig added six points.

“Ashley had a great all around game,” Cue said after the game. “Morgan shot the ball very well, too.

Dickman got the game winning shot with just six seconds remaining.

The victory put BEA’s record at 3-2 overall, 1-0 in the South Central Conference.
