Two BEA students contributing to ski team
The Lake Crystal Valley ski team competed in a multi-school invite at Buck Hill last Wednesday.
Both the LCV boys and girls teams fell to teams from Blake, Breck and Minnehaha Academy. The girls team also lost to Visitation.
However, both the boys and girls teams won in competition with St. Paul Academy and Summit School.
The boys team won 36-19 over St. Paul Academy (SPA), while the girls squeaked out a close 28-26 win.
Nick Lein of Blue Earth Area High School led the Lake Crystal Valley team against SPA. He was second overall, with a time of 59.36.
Lein was also the top LCV skier against Breck, Blake and Minnehaha Academy, placing sixth against Breck, eighth against Blake and ninth against Minnehaha.
Overall for the day he was in 32nd place.
Mackenzie Lein took seventh in the race against St. Paul Academy with her time of 78.11. She also placed 10th in the competition against Breck.
Overall, she had the 41st best time.
In competition on Friday, Jan. 15 at Mt. Kato against both Mankato East and West High Schools, Nick Lein took 20th place with a time of 47.83 for his two runs.
Mackenzie Lein placed 17th in the girls competition with a combined time of 58.06 for her two runs down the slope.
No team scores were available from the meet.
The team will be back at Buck Hill for the Section Meet on Feb. 2.
