18-0 run helps BEA girls beat Waseca

By Staff | Feb 8, 2010

A big second half propelled the Blue Earth Area girls basketball team to a come-from-behind 51-45 victory at Waseca on Jan. 28.

The Buccaneers were down 30-17 at the half. The Bluejays continued to maintain a big lead into the first part of the second half as well.

Still down by 13 points with 10 minutes left in the game, the Bucs stepped up their pressure defense and turned things around.

BEA went on an 18-0 scoring run to take the lead, then hung on for the 51-45 win.

Turnovers were the difference, with the Bucs defense forcing the Bluejays into 26 of them – and making many transition baskets.

“I was proud of the way the girls kept fighting,” Buc head coach Al Cue says.
