The Blue Earth Area wrestling rolled to a 41-23 non-conference win over New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Thursday night at Pemberton Auditorium in Blue Earth.

With the win, the Bucs improve their season record to 20-3.

“We were pretty flat and didn’t have intensity on our feet. The slowed us down by tying up our hands,” says Head Coach Randy Wirtjes. “But, a win is a win.”

BEA took a 4-0 lead with a Travis Hagedorn major decision at 103 pounds.

The Panthers won the next two matches to grab a 9-4 lead.

David Franta’s 13-4 major decision at 125 pounds made the score 9-8.

Senior D.J. Gronewald put the Bucs ahead for good, needing just 16 seconds to pin his opponent.

NRHEG trimmed BEA’s lead to 14-13 with a 23-10 major decision at 135.

BEA won four of the final six matches to make the final score 41-23.
