Cards outlast girl tracksters

The Fairmont girls track and field team slipped by Blue Earth Area at the Buc Invite held April 17 at Wilson Field in Blue Earth.

The Cardinals captured the team title with 363.5 points, while the Bucs finished with 341.

United South Central/Alden-Conger was third with 284, followed by St. James (207), Martin County West (181.5), Maple River (147) and BEA JV (86).

All six relays finished in the top five.

The 4 x 100 foursome of Meghan Mittelstadt, Annemarie Hoyt, Cassie Thompson and Lexi Holland recorded a first-place winning time of 53.9.

In the 100-meter dash, Mittelstadt was second and Holland third, although both had a time of 13.5 seconds.

Holland also was third in the long jump with a mark of 13 feet, 11 1/2 inches. Cassie Thompson also had a leap of 13-11 1/2 to take fourth.

Rylee Wagner (64.0) was the lead-off leg of the winning 4 x 400 squad of Sara Warmka (65.4), Courtney Grandgenett (66.2) and Kate Hassing (60.0) that was clocked in 4:15.7.

Hassing also had individual firsts in the 400-meter dash with a time of 60.2 seconds and a leap of 34 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump.

Wagner placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 62.2 seconds. She showed her jumping ability clearing the bar at 4 feet 8 inches for a fourth-place finish in the high jump.

The sprint medley team of Cassie Thompson (28.9), Katie Krieger (28.5), Sara Warmka (65.9) and Grandgenett (2:35.2) grabbed second place in 4:38.8.

In the discus competition, Krieger’s toss of 99 feet, 6 inches was the second-best overall.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Marissia Hagedorn (17.5), Kelly Aukes (18.7), Chante Anderson (19.9) and Caitlynne Tyler (18.3) was second with a time of 1:14.6.

Hagedorn cleared the bar at 10 feet to win the pole vault competition. Chante Anderson was third with 8-0 and LaNay Walker fifth with 7-6.

Hagedorn was second in the 300-meter low hurdles, covering the distance in 51 seconds. Cassie Thompson was right behind in third place with 52 seconds.

In the 4 x 800, the Bucs’ time of 10:33.0 was third overall.

Members of the squad include Grandgenett (2:29.6), Frannie Tetzlaff (2:43), Sara Warmka (2:40.5) and Walker (2:39.6).

Walker’s time of 13:14.7 in the 3,200-meter run was the fourth-fastest of the day.

In the shot put, Sydney uncorked a second-place toss of 34 feet, 3 inches.

The 4 x 200 quartet of Mittelstadt (27.7), Chante Anderson (31.1), Krieger (30.3) and Holland (28.3) claimed fourth place in 1:57.5.
