BEA edges Mavericks, Eagles

The Blue Earth Area boys golf team notched two victories in their only home meets of the season last week.

They defeated New Ulm by five strokes on Monday at the Riverside Town and Country Golf Club course, then got an 8-stroke win against Martin County West on Tuesday.

BEA 160, MCW 168

Andy Aukes shot a blistering one over par 37 to lead the Bucs to the win on Tuesday. But, it wasn’t good enough to earn him medalist honors.

MCW’s Josh Ellinson shot a one under par 35 to take the medalist title.

Derek Abel shot a 39 to help get the Bucs to their total of 160 and secure the win.

Nate Glimsdal added a score of 40 for the nine hole meet, while teammate Chris Sundquist had a 44 for the team total.

Other Buc varsity scores included Slater Peterson with a 49 and Jacob Black with a 51.

BEA 358, New Ulm 363

Aukes was edged by one stroke on Monday at Riverside for the medalist honors.

He shot an 81 (39-42) to once again lead the Bucs. However, the Eagles’ Jordan Zupfer had an 80 (39-41) to claim the title.

The Bucs, though secured the win over the Eagles by adding an 86 (40-46) from Slater Peterson, a 93 (45-48) from Nate Glimsdal and a 98 (54-44) from Chris Sundquist.

Other Buccaneer varsity scores included Jacob Black with a 101 (49-52) and a 102 (48-54) from Derek Abel.

This week the Bucs play at Fairmont on Monday, then travel to USC on Friday.
