BEA baseball team

The Bucs’ Taylor Owen pitched seven strong innings as Blue Earth Area downed the St. Peter Saints 4-1 in baseball action last Tuesday night.

Owen allowed just two hits, while striking out five and walking five.

BEA took a 2-1 lead right away after one inning of play. They added two insurance runs, one in the second and one in the sixth.

The Bucs out hit the Saints 7-2. Seven different Buccaneer batters rapped out one hit each.

Garrett Anderson got a double in the first inning, knocking in a run. A single by Owen got the second run in.

Joe Franta’s hit in the second inning drove in a run.

Brady Anderson got on base with a hit in the sixth, and came home on a hit by Jared Smith.

Next up for the Buccaneer squad is a game in Fairmont on Tuesday. They will host Sleepy Eye on Friday night.

BEA 11, USC 7

The Blue Earth Area Bucs had to come from behind on Friday night, April 23, in Wells.

The Bucs fell behind 7-1 to the USC Rebels after just two innings of play.

However, BEA scored five runs in the fourth and four runs in the seventh to secure an 11-7 win.

Brady Anderson pitched three innings and gave up the seven USC runs on eight hits. He struck out two and walked one.

Jared Smith came in for one inning of relief and allowed one hit, struck out two and walked two.

It was Connor Hanson who notched the win. He pitched the final three innings, shutting out the Rebels, allowing one hit and striking out four batters.

Taylor Owen led the Bucs at the plate, going 4 for 5 and getting three RBI. Garrett Anderson was 3 for 4 and also had three RBI.

Brady Anderson was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate and scored twice. Collin Nienhaus was 2 for 4 and also scored twice.
