Girl golfers win tourney
The Buccaneer girl golfers defeated five other teams to claim the championship of the Belle Plaine Invitational last Monday.
The Blue Earth Area team shot a 392 for first place. Jordan was in second with 407, while host Belle Plaine was right behind with a 408 team score.
Waseca shot 414, USC 448 and NYA’s score was incomplete.
“This was a good day for the Bucs,” Coach Al Cue says. “Several section opponents were at this meet, so the victory was a good sign. Also, the Section Meet is at this same course, so hopefully, we’ll get to play here again later in the season.”
Jessica Skaare led the Bucs with an 86 (39-47). It was good for medalist honors.
“Jessica played very well on a tough course,” Cue says. “Having Autumn (Drake) break 100 is also a very good score for her.”
Drake was second on the Buc team with a 97 (46-51).
Morgan Dickman came in with a 101 (55-46) for the Bucs total, while Allie Curtis added a 108 (55-53) to finish out the Bucs scoring.
Other varsity scores included a 110 (59-51) from Olivia Skaare, and a 114 (57-57) from Tessa Huber.
This week the Bucs play at St. Peter on Tuesday, and travel to JCC on Friday.
BEA 208, USC 233
The Buccaneer girl linksters shot a 208 for a nine hole meet at Wells, while USC shot 233.
The meet was held on Friday, April 30.
“This was not a great score for us,” Coach Cue says. “But, it was good enough to get the win. Traditionally we haven’t played well at USC. The girls were not happy with their scores.”
Jessica Skaare led the way for the Bucs with her 50. Morgan Dickman was in second for the team with a score of 52.
Both Olivia Skaare and Tessa Huber came in with 53 to round out BEA’s total.
Other varsity scores were Sam Hogstad with 58 and Autumn Drake with a 60.
