The Brainerd Warriors had too much balance and repeated as champions of the Dick Maher Invitational held Saturday, Dec. 4, in Blue Earth.

Brainerd finished with 170 points to take first among the 11-team field.

The Class A No. 11-ranked Bucs placed fifth overall with 132,5 points.

Head coach Randy Wirtjes says the team wrestled hard and he’s pleased with their performance.

“We have some young kids who are willing to work hard and want to compete,” he says. “We’ll try to get better each week and see what happens. We’ll try to be peaking by tournament time.”
