BEA girls slay Giants
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls basketball team played the role of Giant killers last Tuesday night, downing Le Sueur-Henderson 57-44.
“This was a nice win for us,” Buc head coach Al Cue says. “LSH is always a good team and they have some impressive wins this season.”
BEA was led by junior forward Camille Driscoll who scored 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and snagged seven steals.
Rylee Wagner and Sydney Ristau each added 10 points to the Buc total, while Sara Warmka had nine points and Krista Hassing eight.
“We did not shoot the ball well at all from the perimeter,” Cue says. “But, we did score well from inside.”
The Bucs were 20 of 68 from the floor, while the Giants were 18 of 46.
“It was also good to see us shoot well from the free-throw line,” Cue adds. “We made 16 of 21 from the line.”
LSH was just 5 of 11 from the charity stripe.
Ashley Olson tied Driscoll in rebounds with 10, and had three assists and four steals.
Hassing had seven rebounds for BEA and Warmka dished out seven assists.
The Bucs led the Giants 30-22 at the half. BEA outscored LSH 27-22 in the second stanza.
The win ups BEA’s record to 8-4, and they stay at 1-2 in the South Central Conference.
This week, the Buccaneers host LCWM on Monday night and travel to New Ulm Tuesday and St. Peter on Friday.
