Joe Franta

After already having won the 2010-11 wrestling season dual meet crown, St. James easily won the South Central Conference tournament held Feb. 12, in Blue Earth.

The Class A No.12-ranked Saints claimed the title with 202.5 points, well ahead of second place Waseca with 161.5.

Blue Earth Area captured third place with 147.5 points.

“I thought we wrestled good in spots. We weren’t able to pick up points in some weights we could have. We have to win the close ones and it wasn’t our day. I thought we could have sneaked into second place,” says Head Coach Randy Wirtjes. “We can do better and we’ve got a week to work hard on it.”

The Bucs had three champions and three second-place finishers.
