Hagedorn, Meyer on SCC team list
Two Blue Earth Area High School gymnasts were recently named to the All-South Central Conference gymnastics team list.
Marissia Hagedorn and Julia Meyer were both on the list.
Each gymnast in the SCC is given points for placing in conference meets.
Five points are given for a first place finish, four for second, etc.
At the end of the season the points are tallied and the top 16 gymnasts are named to the All-SCC team, in order of point totals.
Hagedorn was 13th on the list.
“Marissia’s top event is the vault,” coach Sandy Oswald says. “But, she also received points in many events, including all-around.”
Meyer was in a three-way tie for 16th place on the SCC list.
“It’s really phenomenal that Julia was able to place on the list,” Oswald says. “She was injured during the St. James meet, and only her vault and bars scores counted from that meet. Then, she had to sit out the meets against Martin County Area and New Ulm.”
Despite missing two conference contests, Meyer had accumulated enough points to place her on the list.
“Julia excels in vault, beam and floor,” Oswald says. “She was doing well, very well, before her injury.”
Blaire Zierke was also injured late in the season, and Oswald says she had a good chance of making the All-SCC list.
Topping the SCC list was Matraca Steen of Martin County Area. MCA had four names on the list and Waseca had five.
