Girls 2nd, Hagedorn sets 3 records

Blue Earth Area finished second at the Buc indoor meet held March 31 at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Mankato East took first place with 113 points, followed by BEA (80), Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet (32) and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (18).

Marissia Hagedorn led the way for the Bucs, setting three indoor records to claim the No. 1 spot on the all-time honor roll list.

In the 55-meter high hurdles, Hagedorn broke the tape in 8.6 seconds to take first.

Hagedorn also won the 55-meter low hurdles in 8.4 seconds. Taylor Grandgenett’s time of 9.9 was good enough for third place and No. 7 on the honor roll.

Hagedorn’s other first-place finish came in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10 feet, 6 inches. Taking second was MacKenzie Determan with a vault of 7-6.

In the sprints, Lexi Holland covered the 55-meter dash in 7.8 seconds to claim first place. Right behind was Ashley Olson with a time of 7.9 seconds to take third.

The Bucs took first and third in the 400-meter dash.

Krista Hassing posted a winning time of 62.7, while Frannie Tetzlaff was clocked in 70.6.

In the 200-meter dash, Anne Franta was third in 28.9 and also moved into the No. 5 indoor list.

Courtney Grandgenett won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.2, while Athena Peterson was fifth in the 1,600-meter run with 6:49.8.

Signe Olson’s time of 13:44.1 in the 3,200-meter run was good for second place and also put her No. 7 on the honor roll.

BEA placed in the top five in the high and long jump events.

Cassie Thompson and Jastin Meyer both cleared 4 feet, 6 inches in the high jump, but Thompson placed second while Meyer was fifth.

Thompson took third in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 3 inches.

In the shot put competition, Sydney Ristau’s toss of 34 feet, 4 1/4 inches was second overall.

The Bucs were first in the 4 x 800-meter relay.

Krista Hassing (2:26.8), Courtney Grandgenett (2:33.4), Taylor Grandgenett (2:48.3) and Signe Olson (2:47.8) finished with a time of 10:44.6.

The 4 x 200 foursome of Jenny Smith (28.5), Annemarie Hoyt (29.9), Ashley Olson (29.1) and Lexi Holland (29.3) placed second with 1:56.8.

Smith also was the first leg of the second-place 4 x 400 relay team clocked in 4:23.5.

Smith (66.7) teamed up with Karli Olsen (65.0), Marissia Hagedorn (65.2) and Cassie Thompson (63.9).
