BEA softball falls to JCC 5-3
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer softball team rallied from a three-run deficit to tie the game in the fifth inning, but eventually lost 5-3 to the Jackson County Central Huskies last Monday night.
JCC was first on the scoreboard with two runs scored in the second inning.
The Huskies used two doubles, a single and a base on balls to get the two runners across the plate.
JCC plated another run in the third, after another double got the runner on second base.
The Bucs came back with one run in the fourth.
Lindsey Ankeny reached first on a walk, and eventually came home with a sacrifice from Maci Henningsen, a hit from Cassidy Bartlett and a fielders choice.
BEA tied the game in the fifth when Maddie McDonald reached on an error and was brought home on a triple from Ciarra Olson.
Olson also reached home to tie the game at 3-3.
JCC used a string of double-single-double hits to score the two winning runs in the sixth inning. Meanwhile, BEA could not produce a run in the sixth or seventh.
McDonald went all six innings for BEA, giving up the five runs on eight hits. She struck out two and walked one.
BEA had four hits off the JCC pitcher, while four batters struck out and two walked.
Besides Olson and Bartlett, Janessa Jahnke and Whitney Pirsig also each had a hit.
BEA hosts Belle Plaine on Monday and plays at Waseca on Tuesday. They also host St. James on Thursday at the 14th Street ballfields in Blue Earth.
