Girls 1st, boys 3rd at Buc invite

The Blue Earth Area girls track and field team dominated the competition to win a home meet held April 29 at Wilson Field.
BEA tallied 177 points to finish first, followed by New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (86), Madelia/Truman (39) and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet (30).
The Bucs won 11 events, with Courtney Grandgenett claiming two individual titles.
Grandgenett was first in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:45.2 and LaNay Walker was third in 6:06.0.
In the 3,200 meter run, Grandgenett posted a winning time of 12:39.4, while Signe Olson was fourth with 13:39.1.
Walker showed her versatility, winning the pole vault with a height of 8 feet and taking fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:44.6
Placing second in the pole vault MacKenzie Determan, clearing the bar at 7 feet, 6 inches.
Karli Olsen finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:47.2.
Three relays took first place.
The foursome of Jenny Smith, Annemarie Hoyt, Ashley Olson and Lexi Holland broke the tape in 53.1 seconds to win the 4 x 100-meter relay.
Smith (28.9) teamed up with Sara Warmka (27.2), Cassie Thompson (28.8) and Franta (27.2) to take firsts in the 4 x 200-meter relay.
In the 4 x 400-meter relay, BEA had a first-place time of 4:32.0.
Members of the squad were Rylee Wagner (66.7), Jenny Smith (68.2) Katie Krieger (71.4) and Karli Olsen (65.5).
Taking second in the 4 x 800-meter relay with a time of 11:11.4 were Signe Olson (2:38.3), Kaitlyn Olsen (2:46.9), Riley Mack (2:51.6) and Athena Peterson (2:54.5).
BEA took the top three spots in the 100-meter dash.
Lexi Holland had a winning time of 13.0 seconds.
Anne Franta was clocked in 13.1 to place second and claim the No. 7 spot on the outdoor honor roll list.
Taking third place in 13.3 seconds was Ashley Olson. That also put her No. 9 on the outdoor honor roll.
Franta’s time of 27.2 seconds was good enough for second place in the 200-meter dash and No. 8 on the honor roll, while Ashley Olson claimed third in 27.9.
Rylee Wagner finished second in the 400-meter dash in 65.8 seconds, while Sara Warmka claimed fourth place in 67.4.
Wagner also took second place in the high jump. clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.
In the hurdles, Taylor Grandgenett took first place in the 300-meter lows in 55 seconds and Sierra Halvorson was second in 57.8.
Kelly Aukes claimed third place in the 100-meter highs in 17.4 seconds, while Taylor Grandgenett was fifth with 19.0.
The Bucs won three field events.
Sara Warmka had a winning mark of 30 feet, 8 1/2 inches in the triple jump, followed by Kelly Aukes in third place with 28-11 and fourth-place finisher Elizabeth Ellis with 27-10.
Cassie Thompson’s leap of 13 feet, 10 inches gave her first place in the long jump competition and Lexi Holland placed fifth with 13-9 3/4.
In the shot put competition, Sydney Ristau was first with a toss of 36 feet, 9 inches and Katie Krieger’s toss of 33 feet, 4 inches was good enough for third.
Krieger also was second in the discus with a distance of 96 feet, 11 inches.
