BEA 5, MCW 2

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer tennis team put another notch in the win column with a 5-2 victory over Martin County West on Thursday, Sept. 1.

Even though the calendar says it was September, the match was played under hot and humid conditions.

“The temperature was at 95 degrees and the heat index was 107,” Buc head coach Terry Barnes says.

Despite the tropical weather, the BEA girls played well, Barnes notes.

The Bucs lost one match in singles and one in doubles.

Karleigh Wolff fell to Kelcie Russenberger 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

The Bucs’ Abby Nimz notched a victory at No. 2 singles, downing Megan Suter 6-0, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Kaitlyn Olsen continued her win streak with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Tori Russenberger 6-1, 6-2.

Karli Olsen dispatched Logan Weber in two sets at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
