Gymnasts fall to Cougars, host two meets this week

The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team traveled to Mankato East last Tuesday for a meet.

The Bucs fell to the Cougars by a score of 127.425 to 120.6.

BEA was led by Chante Anderson and Cassie Thompson who took third and fourth place, respectively, in the all-around.

Anderson scored a 31.450 which included a first place finish on the uneven parallel bars. She scored an 8.125 in that event.

Anderson was also third on floor exercise with an 8.225 and was tied for fourth on the balance beam with a 7.05.

Thompson’s fourth place all-around score was a 31.1.

She took a second place finish on the vault with a score of 8.8.

Haley Resutek and Kayla Schaper were the other two Bucs who competed in all events and had all-around scores.

Resutek had a total score of 28.825 which included a third place finish on the vault, scoring an 8.650.

Schaper’s all-around score was 28.650.

Mankato East outscored BEA in every event: vault 34.050 to 33.4; bars 30.250 to 29.4; beam 29.950 to 26.975; and floor 33.175 to 30.825.

The Cougars were led by Mehgan Dauk who scored 33.20 in all-around, and Jean Smith who scored a 32.075.

This week the Bucs’ gymnastics squad will host Windom on Tuesday and New Ulm on Friday, both in the gym at the Winnebago school.
