Three teams competed at the Mount Kato Ski Area on Monday, Jan. 23; Mankato East, Mankato West and Lake Crystal Valley.

Lake Crystal Valley had to compete as individuals only, as eight skiers are needed for a team score and LCV did not meet the team requirements.

Nick Lein of LCV and a BEA student, was in eighth place overall in the boys competition.

Lein scored a 22.23 on his first run and a 23.76 on his second run for a combined score of 45.99.

In the girls competition, BEA’s Laura Soerenson had a time of 1:53.77 for 23rd place.

She had trouble in her first run with a time of 1:26.08, but came back with a second run time of 27.69, the 11th best on that run.
