BEA claws Tigers 6-1 at home
The Blue Earth Area girls tennis team advanced their season record to 3-1 with a convincing 6-1 win over Belle Plaine last Tuesday on the Schroeder Courts in Blue Earth.
The Bucs only loss came at No. 1 singles where BEA’s Karleigh Wolff was enmeshed in a battle with Belle Plaine’s Ashley Morrison. Morrison prevailed 6-4, 6-4.
At No. 2 singles, Buccaneer Lindsey Prokop downed Lindsay Vennie 6-4, 6-4.
Annika Wilhelmi of BEA and Kate Savage of Belle Plaine were locked in a battle in their first set at No. 3 singles, with Wilhelmi prevailing 7-5. In the second set, the Buc ninth-grader crushed her opponent 6-0.
At No. 4 singles, Kaitlyn Olsen defeated Ireland Lambrecht 6-2, 6-2.
All three doubles matches went three sets.
The Buc ninth grade duo of Natali Fellows and Karli Olsen defeated Allison Stolee and Jane Schneider 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
The Buc senior duo of Abby Nimz and Aeli Olson defeated seniors Sophie Brazil and Jamie Read 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
And at No. 3 doubles, BEA’s Paige Darrington and Autumn Drake defeated Meghan Gavin and Kaisa Hallgren 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.

Le Sueur-Henderson 1
The Bucs won their second meet of the season with a 6-1 victory at Le Sueur-Henderson on Friday, Aug. 24.
BEA’s Karleigh Wolff started the Buccaneers off with a hard-fought three-set win over Carlie Brandt, 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1 at the No. 1 singles spot.
At No. 2 singles, Lindsey Prokop downed Briana Williams 6-4, 6-4. At No. 3 singles BEA’s Anikka Wilhelmi defeated Sammy Kraemer 6-2, 6-3.
BEA’s Kaitlyn Olsen was defeated 6-2, 6-4 by Sara Mootz at No. 4 singles.
The three Buccaneer doubles teams cruised to wins against their Giant opponents.
Natali Fellows and Karli Olsen defeated Katelyn Hank and Kat Chadwick 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, Abby Nimz and Paige Darrington beat Breana Schug and Tracy Eischens 6-1, 6-4.
And, at No. 3 doubles, Autumn Drake and Beka Krussow beat Katie Pfarr and Catherine Gronk 6-2, 6-1.
After a match against MCW this past Thursday, the Bucs have a week off and will face St. Peter this Thursday.
