Buc girls 4th, boys 5th at invite

Blue Earth Area girls and boys cross country teams took fourth and fifth respectively at the Maple River Invite held Thursday at Daly Park near Mapleton.

It was almost a sweep for the United South Central Rebels.

The No.5-ranked Class A girls team took home the team title with 23 points, while the boys with 50 points were edged out for first place by a point.

Emily Mantor led the Rebels with a first-place finish in the 4,000-meter race with a time of 14:53, while Hannah Goemann was third overall in 16:20.

Taking third was Beth Koziolek in 17:21, followed by Amber Klein in seventh place with 17:27, Tikvah Schwartz at 10th place with 17:43 and Tenley Schwartz with a time of 18:26 to finish 17th.

For BEA, Taylor Grandgenett crossed the finish line in 18:02 to take 13th.

Shayna Stevermer was clocked in 18:28 and finished 18th, while Signe Olson was 20th with a time of 18:35.

Taking 23rd was Sierra Halvorson in 18:55, followed by Jenna Stevermer four spots back with 19:13 and Athena Peterson at 37th in 20:29.

The Rebel boys were led in the 5,000-meter race by Brian Remington’s seventh-place finish in 18:51 and Eric Redman in ninth-place with 19:01.

Taking 10th in 19:04 was Adam Stevermer, while Logan Thomsen was 13th in 19:34.

Brett Stevermer was 19th in 19:55 and Raul Gonzalez claimed the 31st spot in 20:26.

For the Bucs, Mike Ankeny took fifth overall in 18:29.

Finishing 24th was Alec Huber in 20:24, three seconds ahead of Isaac Miranda at 25th.

Kyle Mercer posted a time of 21:39 to take 42nd, followed by Zach Vaske at 46th in 22:04, Nick Lein with 22:08 to claim 48th and Nick Shure at 57th in 22:48.
