Harriers compete at Jackson Invite

Blue Earth Area cross country teams competed against a tough field at the Jackson Invite held Thursday at Loon Lake Golf Course.

The Buc girls took fifth place, while the boys finished eighth.

In the girls 4,000-meter varsity race, Taylor Grandgenett led BEA with a 14th-place time of 16:23.

Sierra Halvorson was 28th with a time of 17:52 and a spot behind was Signe Olson with 18:04.

Rounding out the top five for the Bucs were Shayna Stevermer in 35th place with a time of 18:43 and Jenna Stevermer at 19:00 to take 37th.

For the boys, the first Buc runner to cross the finish line in the 5,000-meter race was Mike Ankeny in 16th place with a time of 18:07.

Alec Huber took 35th in 19:40, while Kyle Mercer was 45th in 20:03, Zach Vaske 51st with 20:34 and Nick Lein posted a time of 21:33 to finish 59th.
