Bucs Ankeny earns All-SCC
Blue Earth Area had one runner earning All-Conference honors at the South Central Conference Championships held Tuesday at Lakeview Golf Club in Waseca.
Sophomore Mike Ankeny covered 5,000 meters in 17 minutes, 24 seconds to place seventh and grab the final All-SCC spot.
The boys team finished fourth, while the girls were fifth.
Waseca took home both team titles.
The Class A No.2-ranked girls took first place with 21 points, while the No.4-rated Bluejay boys claimed first with 22 points.
For the BEA boys, taking 21st was Isaac Miranda with a time of 18:47 and Alec Huber was one spot behind with 19:20.
Rounding out the top five for team scoring were Kyle Mercer in 24th with 19:42, followed by Jakob Thomsen in 27th place with 19:49.
Zach Vaske crossed the finish line in 19:57 to take 29th and Nick Shure was 35th in 21:56.
In the girls 4,000-meter race, freshman Taylor Grandgenett just missed All-SCC honors with an eighth-place time of 16:17.
The next five Buc runners finished within one place of each other.
Sierra Halvorson was clocked in 17:55 to claim 23rd, while Signe Olson was three seconds back to take 24th.
Jenna Stevermer was 27th with a time of 18:30 and Athena Peterson took 28th in 18:37.
Anna Aukes took 29th in 18:42, while Autumn Foster turned in 33rd-place time of 19:19.
