Gymnasts compete in 3 meets

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer gymnasts traveled to St. Peter on Thursday and left with a victory.

BEA finished with a total of 123.300; 34.075 on vault, 28.075 on bars, 29.8 on beam and 31.35 on floor. St. Peter came in just behind BEA with 120.700; 33.650 on vault, 26.650 on bars, 30.525 on beam and 29.875 on floor.

Cassie Thompson of BEA?was the top gymnast of the night placing first in all around with a total of 32.750.

She took the top spot on the vault with a score of 8.9. She placed first with her floor routine receiving an 8.775. Thompson also came in second on the bars with an average of 7.375. She also placed on the beam receiving a score of 7.7 putting her in fourth place.

Haley Resutek placed fourth in all around with a score of 30.1. She snagged the fourth position on the vault with an 8.55. Her floor routine gained her 7.75 points which put her the third place spot for that event.

Christina Anderson came in first place on the bars with a 7.575 and landed in the third place position on the vault with a best score of 8.725.

The Buccaneer’s Kayla Schaper took the first place win on the beam receiving an average score of 8.175.

Megan Overgaard of St. Peter took second place for all around. She scored a total of 30.950; 8.9 on the vault, 6.7 on the bars, 7.850 on the beam and 7.5 on the floor.

Teagan Weiss, also of St. Peter, took the remaining third place position for all around. She scored a total of 30.425; 8.375 on vault, 6.750 on bars, 7.8 on beam and 7.5 on floor.

The Bucs JV gymnasts also had a successful night against St. Peter. They won with a total of 92.850; 30.550 on vault, 15.1 on bars, 21.5 on beam and 25.7 on floor. St. Peter had a total of 88.850; 30.8 on vault, 13.1 on bars, 24 on beam and 20.950 on the floor.

Mallorie Huber of BEA took first place for all around gymnast taking a total of 24.5 points.

Windom 133.375,

BEA 122.475

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer gymnasts hosted Windom-Mountain Lake in Winnebago on Tuesday night.

Windom outscored BEA?and took first place at the meet, finishing with a team total of 133.375 while BEA had 122.475.

Windom scored higher than the Bucs in all four events, scoring 35 on vault, 31.125 on bars, 32.075 on the beam and 35.175 on floor. The Bucs finished with 34.05 on vault, 30.075 on bars, 26.175 on beam and 32.175 on floor.

The Bucs Cassie Thompson placed in three of the four events and came in fourth in all-around scoring a total of 31.45. Thompson also placed third on vault with a best score of 8.9. She came in second place on the uneven bars with an average of 7.9 and placed second with her floor routine with an average of 9.05.

Christina Anderson, the only other Buc to place against Windom, came in third place behind Thompson on the bar with a score of 7.8.

Hanna Kloss was the top scorer for all-around gymnast with a total score of 34.475; 7.75 on bars, 9.1 on vault, 8.75 on beam and 8.87 on floor.

Miki Bolin came in second for all-around with a total score of 33.85 and Megan Muller came in just behind her with a total score of 33.35 for third place.

The JV BEA gymnasts took the team total and placed first over Windom with a score of 84.

Waseca 131.30,

BEA 126.525

The Blue Earth Area gymnasts hosted the Waseca Bluejays on Friday, Jan. 11, but the Bluejays went away with the highest team total that night.

It was a close-scoring meet; Waseca finished with 131.30 and BEA finished with a team total of 126.525 and placed gymnasts in each event.

The Bucs outscored the Bluejays on the vault with a team total of 34.525, compared to their opponent’s 34.35.

BEA’s Haley Resutek came in first place on the vault with an 8.9. Cassie Thompson came in second with an 8.75.

Third place on the vault went to Caleigh Dennis, a Waseca gymnast, with a score of 8.725.

Christina Anderson came in just behind Dennis with an 8.7 for fourth place.

Blue Earth totaled 29.95 on the bars with Waseca scoring 31.3.

Marina Chen and Sadie Klug of Waseca took first and second place on the uneven bars, but two BEA gymnasts managed to take the remaining places.

Anderson placed third with an average score of 8.025. Thompson came in just behind her with 7.975 for fourth place.

The Bucs had a team total of 28.95 on the beam. Waseca came out ahead with a total of 31.35 and placing three of their gymnasts.

Bluejay gymnast Chen took first place with an 8.6, followed by her teammate Maddy Swain who had an 8.2. Dennis took fourth place with a score of 7.25.

Resutek was the only Buc gymnast to place on the beam with a score of 7.85, putting her in third.

The floor routines also were a challenge for the Bucs as the Bluejays had a team total of 34.3 and the Bucs 33.1.

Thompson placed second at that event receiving an average score of 9.025.

Swain took the first place spot with a 9.05, Chen came in third with an 8.55 and Dennis placed fourth with 8.5.

Thompson completed the meet placing third for all-around gymnast. She received a total score of 32.675.

Buc gymnast Resutek also placed in all-around, coming in fourth with 32.625.

Chen of Waseca placed first with 33.675 and Swain came in second with 33.5.

The JV?gymnasts also competed against the Bluejays. The Bucs came in second with a team total of 93.4 and Waseca was first with a score of 103.4.
