Rebels end Bucs season, 78-71

The boys basketball sub-section play began on Monday, March 4.

The Blue Earth Area basketball team traveled to Wells to challenge the United South Central Rebels.

The game was closely matched and the Rebels seemed to have the upper hand in the beginning, 35-27.

However, the Bucs stepped up in the second half, scoring 44 points. It just wasn’t enough to win. The Rebels earned the victory with a score of 78-71 and advanced in sub-section play.

BEA had a total of 27 rebounds, 12 on offense and 15 on defense. They also had 16 assists, four steals and eight turnovers.

USC also grabbed 27 rebounds, eight offensive and 19 defensive. They had 20 assists, two steals and eight turnovers.

Brandyn Olsen was top scorer for the Bucs. He brought in 21 points. He was 6 of 13 from the field and sank a three pointer.

Olsen also was 6 of 8 from the foul line for a 75 percent accuracy rate and had nine assists.

Luke Monson tallied 18 points with five baskets, one three and was 5 of 7 from the free-throw line.

Isaac Darrington scored 17 points. He was 6 of 11 with his two-point shots and 5 of 8 from the foul line.

Darrington grabbed 14 rebounds, seven offensive and seven defensive.

Dallas Barslou racked up 13 points. He was 2 of 3 from the three-point range for a 67 percent accuracy rate, 5 of 6 from the free-throw line at 83 percent accuracy. He also had two assists.

BEA was 19 of 44 with their two-point shots, 4 of 9 with three-point attempts and 21 of 29 with foul shots.

USC’s Steve V. brought in 29 points for his team. He was 10 of 13 from the field and 3 of 3 from the three-point range.

The Rebels were 28 of 43 from the field, 5 of 12 from the three-point range and 7 of 13 from the free-throw line.
