BEA boys track and field team takes second by one

The Blue Earth Area boys track and field team was edged out by one point at the Friday, April 26 “Buc 7” invite.

Madelia/Truman, Granada-Huntley-East Chain, Minnesota Lake took first with 146 points, BEA placed second with 145.

Sophomore Alberto Ocampo did well in the dashes with a first place for the 200-meter dash at 24 seconds flat. He also snagged second place in the 400-meter dash at 53.1 seconds.

BEA walked away with first, second and third in the shot put by Steven Plocker, Brad More and Danny Krieger; 46-1/2, 44-7 1/2 and 40-10, respectively.

Freshman Brandon Olson had a new personal best for the 110-meter high hurdles with 16.6.

The triple jump was led by BEA’s Nick Shure with 39-5 1/2, followed closely by Bailey Olson, 37-1.

Taylor Olson took second at the long jump with 18-9 3/4. Shure followed with 18-5 1/4.

BEA also did well with the relays. They took second place for both the 4×200 Taylor Olson, Alberto Ocampo, Nick Shure, Bailey Olson and the 4×100-meter relays Jacob Johnson, Justin Ritter, Camden Bowers, Dakota Jahnke.

The Blue Earth Area girls track and field team did not have as much luck as the boys this time, but there were a couple first place slots filled by Bucs.

Skylee Bell took first in the 100-meter dash with a 13.1.

And, for the 4 x 100-meter relay, BEA took first with 52.6 Paige Darrington, Miranda Johnson, Frannie Tetzlaff, Skylee Bell.
